Resources are provided with this practice
The purpose of this practice is to provide students with an opportunity to:
- explore their career interests
- develop their career-related self-awareness
Included in the practice is:
- a game
- some videos of young people discussing their career journeys
- a career interest quiz for students that is on the myWAY Employability website
This Exploring Interests practice can be used in conjunction with the inclusionED Big picture: career interests practice which was one of the original practices that was developed as part of the Autism CRC research project called Better OutcOmes & Student Transitions for Autism or BOOST-A .
The MyWay Employability resources on inclusionED meet the needs of diverse learners and most resources are scaffolded. Some students may require a peer mentor to engage in tasks requiring career-related self-awareness, and/or in independently navigating a website.
This practice aligns with the General Capabilities of the Australian curriculum as described on the website of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority

This practice focuses on career interests and provides a range of activities including a game, videos of people talking about interest-led careers, and of course, the interactive activity on myWAY Employability.
It is our hope that by encouraging students to think about their interests and explore careers that match their interests they are supported to be ambitious about their career goals and “Dream Big”.
