Summary

Collaborative partnerships with parents/carers, colleagues, and external education agencies are critical to:

  • promote an inclusive culture in the school and broader community 
  • successfully reach inclusive education outcomes. 

Collaborative partnerships can help teachers to:

  • understand students and how they learn
  • plan for and implement strategies to meet students’ needs and strengths
  • promote student participation by creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment
  • promote a collective view of students’ strengths, needs, and barriers to learning
  • encourage the community to work together to share knowledge, understanding, and responsibility for students’ academic, behavioural, and social-emotional outcomes.

This practice is informed by the Early Years Behaviour Support Project ( EYBSP ).
